After delving into her own psyche and personal life in debut single ‘Lungs’, Freyja Elsy now explores metaphysical theory and karmic cycles in her new release ‘Requiem’. The classically influenced ‘bow pop’ sound she continues to craft sets the scene against an echoing, dream-like soliloquy that explores the rotation of life and death through natural metaphor and potent sonic imagery. Composed during an uncertain time not just for Elsy but for humanity at large during the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, she explores new dimensions of lyric writing whilst keeping true to her original orchestra and electronic sound.
lyrics
Verse 1:
Once I fell from the sky
I floated like a cloud
I drifted in the river
Raging forward, unfolding outward
Come take my hand:
The chaos is my fate.
Verse 2:
Once I fell from my life
I wandered down the lane
I laid down in the valley
Raging forward, rise to the surface
Come take my hand:
The chaos is my fate.
Chorus:
I can't find, the light, the time, a breath, a side of me
Our loss: decline
It's in my heart, my soul, my breath, my life, my love,
My pain: divine
My love, my pain: divine
My love, my pain: divine
My love, my pain: divine
My love, my pain: divine
Verse 3:
Once I fell from their mind,
Ecstatic in their veins,
I glided through the lightning
Raging forward, unfolding outward,
Come take my hand:
The chaos is my fate.
Chorus:
I can't find, the light, the time, a breath, a side of me
Our loss: decline
It's in my heart, my soul, my breath, my life, my love,
My pain: divine
My love, my pain: divine
My love, my pain: divine
My love, my pain: divine
My love, my pain: divine
Bridge:
Sky (come take my, come take my)
Cloud (come take my hand)
River
Forward
Outward (come take my, come take my)
Hand
Fate
Once I
Mind (come take my)
Veins (come take my)
Lightning
Forward
(come take my)
Outward (come take my, come take my)
Hand (come take my hand)
Fate
CHORUS to end.
